I'm glad that you like the changes I made! Yes, adding that extra strand of floss can really help to fill in the design and make it stand out when you're working on darker fabrics. I also like to add the extra strand when working with larger counts, like the 14-count Aida I used for this work. The little bit of extra coverage can go a long way :)

And I'm so glad you liked the slideshow! I'm happy that I kept with it too, though I honestly was ready to give up on it several times. I ended up going around the pre-determined 'automatic' setup options, and finally got something I liked. Perhaps I'll post something about how to set one up soon, since there seems to be interest!

CrazyStitcher: Thanks so very much! I'm glad that you like the gold sparklies too :) It is funny how such a small change, liking substituting one gold metallic for another a bit lighter in colour, can make such a difference. I agree with you - it really does make the design 'alive' ;)

Also, thanks muchly for your kind words about my little slideshow! I very much enjoyed seeing yours, and being able to see all aspects of your beautiful card :) It makes me very happy to know that you were inspired by mine! And I think yours is wonderful too, just as it is!

There are a few tricks I figured out when trying to do mine that I'll post up soon, and hopefully that might help you feel a bit more satisfied with your own; that was the main problem I had trying to put mine together, was trying to make something I was comfortable with posting. I didn't want all the fancy bells and whistles, I just wanted my photos to be clearly visible! *rolls eyes*Aurelia Eglantinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17998483816892542367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5420053805409977271.post-3970120189647026822011-04-24T15:16:24.086-02:302011-04-24T15:16:24.086-02:30The teacup is so pretty, and I especially like the...The teacup is so pretty, and I especially like the sparkly gold detail, which just seems to bring the design alive.

I loved the slideshow, and have to admit that it was seeing your slideshow that had inspired me to do my own. However, I do think that your slideshow looks so much better than mine. xCrazyStitcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09958069439168855434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5420053805409977271.post-72413912409742863382011-04-24T13:36:36.319-02:302011-04-24T13:36:36.319-02:30I love your floral teacup, it's so pretty! :) ...I love your floral teacup, it's so pretty! :) I liked the original, but I have to say that I think all your changes were spot-on and have made it even more lovely. I particularly like your decision to stitch it on the dark blue and I think it adds a real depth and richness to the colours. I also think stitching it with 3 strands was a great idea - I'll have to remember that if I come to stitch on a darker fabric in the future.

Oh, and I love the slideshow! It was well worth persevering with as it was so interesting seeing the piece come together like that - I really hope that you consider doing that for future projects too! :)Rainy Day Crafterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11237956256737657580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5420053805409977271.post-7122994302294157162011-04-23T03:40:05.514-02:302011-04-23T03:40:05.514-02:30Thanks very much Ziggyeor! I'm glad you liked the slideshow :) I had a lot of trouble working out how to set it up, to be honest, and almost gave up on it once or twice!

Re: Floral Teacup: I'm very happy to report that my Mother is very pleased with it, and when she does find her frame, I'll definitely be putting some pictures up!

Re: VS Strawberries: they are really cute! I have them saved too, from when I first found the teacup. I'd never seen artwork of smiling stawberries, before stumbling across that pattern, but now whenever I look at the fruit, I imagine them smiling invisibly up at me:)Aurelia Eglantinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17998483816892542367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5420053805409977271.post-23195979054480955122011-04-20T22:56:30.258-02:302011-04-20T22:56:30.258-02:30I see what you mean about the doily. It definitely covered the dark fabric well. Great job with the slide-show too. It was really nice to see your progression.

I'm sure your mom loved the finished piece! Maybe once she gets it framed you can share a final pic with us. :)

I checked out the link for VS, and there was a strawberry pattern there that I thought was really cute. I'll probably be printing it off to add to my ever-growing stash of patterns.

Feel better!Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14360696870772219311noreply@blogger.com
